Schools can play an important role in increasing access to physical activity and safe places to play. Unfortunately financial concerns often lead school districts to close their doors once school is out of session. Public Health Law and Policy has developed Opening School Grounds to the Community After Hours: A Toolkit for Increasing Physical Activity Through Joint Use Agreements, to aid school districts, local governments, and community-based organizations in sharing the costs and responsibilities of opening school property to the public after hours through joint use agreements. The toolkit includes profiles of successful joint use aggreements, information for financing joint use, sample joint use policies, and additional resources. You can view or download the entire toolkit by visiting Public Health Law and Policy’s joint use toolkit webpage by clicking here.
